Malcolm Taylor Bethlehem Area Vo-Tech Saucon Valley HS and Northampton Community College

Grade: 12

Family members: My parents are Thomas and Corrie Taylor and my brother Cameron Taylor is a senior at DeSales University.

Favorite subject: My favorite subject is cabinetmaking at Bethlehem Area Votech because you get to see the original drawing and them you work it through all the stages of the building process, then seeing the end result of all your hard work.

Activities: Some of the activities I like are 4 wheeling and riding dirt bikes and working in my woodshop.

Next steps: My next step is to attend Northampton Community College for two years to receive my associate's degree in criminal justice. After that I plan on going to DeSales University for another two years to further my associate's degree to a bachelor's degree. After receiving my bachelor's degree I plan on going to the state police academy to become a K-9 unit Pennsylvania State Trooper.

Career goals: The first of my career goals would be to go to SkillsUSA worlds. Second is to graduate top of my class from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.

Heroes: All the men and women who serve in the U.S. military because without them we wouldn't be able to live free in the beautiful country we live in

Hobbies: My first hobby would have to be cabinetmaking and another one of my hobbies would be learning about engines and any type of motorized vehicles.

Current job(s): I currently have a job at my uncle's HVAC company, Super Heat, and I work for Set2Sell Staging Company.

Volunteer/community work: I volunteer at a fire company.

Likes: What I like to see is someone trying their hardest and giving 100 percent in all that they do.

Dislikes: I dislike when I see someone try something for their first time and they give up because they failed. Like Thomas Edison said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

Greatest accomplishment (so far): One of my greatest accomplishments was welding at Northampton Community College for the governor of Pennsylvania. I have also received student of the month twice for cabinetmaking at Bethlehem Area Votech and I am part of the National Society of High School Scholars.

Advice for peers: Think about what you are doing now because everything you are doing now is going to affect you is some way down the road, whether it's good or bad.
