The losing streak finally came to an end for Northampton Tuesday night, as the K-Kids knocked off Catasauqua in a three game (25-6, 25-8, 25-4) sweep to notch their first victory of the season.
The win snapped a six-match losing streak for the Kids (1-6, 0-5), who had not won a single game prior to Tuesday night in any of their previous six matches.
"After the first week of true season play, I think we had a slow start," said head coach Morgan Litak. "However, after the game against Becahi, there was definitely a difference in the team's play, attitude and intensity. As the coach, I am looking forward to the rest of the season."
Northampton battled Becahi in a three game sweep back on September 8, but struggled to find consistency in consecutive losses to Parkland, Emmaus and Whitehall, before Tuesday's result got the monkey off their back.
With Stroudsburg (4-3), Pocono Mountain East (1-7) and East Stroudsburg North (2-5) on the agenda for the Kids over the next week, Litak will have a chance to build some momentum heading into the second half of the season.
"Thus far, there have been multiple players that stepped up to new positions," she said. "The team's versatility is a key component to anticipated success this year. I believe the main thing we need to develop as a team is confidence in our skills."
