Edward D. Wert, 99, of New Tripoli, died peacefully Sept. 12, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was the widower of Helen (Bleiler) Wert.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Wilson and H. Clorinda (DeFrehn) Wert.
A farmer in Lynn Township for most of his life, he also was a manager of the nursery department of the former Two Guys from Harrison store, Whitehall.
He was a member of the New Tripoli Fire Company and St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Lynn ville.
He honorably and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
His survivors include daughters Carol Haver-kamp, with whom he resided, and Jane, wife of James Bachman, of New Tripoli; sister Viola Wert of Lynnville; sister-in law Margaret Wert of New Tripoli; grandchildren Andrew Haverkamp and wife, Holly, of New Tripoli, Heather, wife of Johnny Carpenter of Ellicott City, Md.; step-grandchildren Matthew Bachman and wife, Melissa, of Orwigsburg; Erica, wife of Robert Seither, of New Tripoli; great-grandchildren Ryan, Mason and Gracie Haverkamp, Jack, Chase and Luke Carpenter; step-great-grandchildren Chase and Layla Seither and Piper Bachman; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Alfred, and sisters Ilerda Wert and Margaret "Mickie" Burkhart.
