Dieter Wentz
Dieter Wentz, 77, of Center Valley, died Sept. 8, 2014, at home.
He and his wife Joanne S. (Balliet) Wentz were married 54 years this month.
Born in Nuremberg, Germany, he was a son of the late Marvin and Anne (Weig) Wentz.
He earned his Bachelor's degree from Moravian College, and two Master's degrees in education from Kutztown and Lehigh universities.
He had a dedicated career in education including teaching English and German at Parkland High School from 1962-73, where he also loved his role as a varsity football coach.
This was followed by a longtime commitment to Upper Bucks Vocational Technical School as director of guidance services, where he was extremely proud of the high percentage of student job placements achieved during his tenure, before retirement in 1997.
He gave back to institutions important to him by volunteering at Lehigh Valley Hospital in the patient representative's office; and at Lehigh University volunteering in the athletics department to assist visitors, students and patrons.
An avid walker, he would frequently enjoy taking morning walks along the paths of the Saucon Rail Trail.
He was a loving father and wonderful grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Lisa, wife of Paul Hellmuth, of Quincy, Mass., and Melanie Welsh and fiancé Jamie Bosler of Coopersburg; brothers, Werner of Milford and Thomas of Palmerton, grandchildren, Joey Welsh, and Eric and Amanda Hellmuth, nieces and nephews.
