Allen Township looking at traffic concerns on Bullshead, Willowbrook roads

Allen Township hopes to resolve traffic issues on Bullshead and Willowbrook roads.

Motorists park their vehicles along both roads at the Catsauqua High School campus to watch soccer and athletic events.

Township supervisors at their meeting last Thursday evening discussed existing problems at the intersections and driveways.

Representatives of the township's engineering firm, Hanover Engineering, met with CHS officials. Another session is planned in the future.

No recommendations were offered for no parking signs on the opposite side of the school grounds.

Enforcement was discussed, however. The township does not have a police department and relies on state police when needed.

Jim Millot of Hanover Engineering, who is assisting the township, said if CHS installs 100 feet of fencing off the roads it would be easier for people to park on the upper school lots.

Millot said he understands such a project would involve funding.

Catasauqua Youth Association has its soccer program on the high school grounds.

Supervisors will discuss the issue further at subsequent meetings and seek input from the high school.
