Joseph H. Ungerer, 71, of Macungie, died Sept. 9, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Dale V. (Cannon) Ungerer. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last week. Born in St. Louis, Mo, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Louella (Marshall) Ungerer.

He was an independent insurance agent serving the greater Northeast territory, retiring in 2008.

He coached his sons' Little League baseball and football teams for many years and was their biggest fan.

Most recently he could be found on the sidelines cheering on his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Joseph G. and Chris H. and his wife Brenda C., both of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter, Nancy A. and her husband Aaron T. Gottschall, of Birdsboro; brothers, Terry and his wife Fran; Garry and his wife Barb, both of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Barbara and her husband Terry Hassler, of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson.
