Freedom girls soccer posts three wins

After a slow start to their season, the Freedom High School girls soccer team looked to turn things around this past week.

The girls schedule was not in their favor as they had four games in five days.

The Pates first took on Pleasant Valley where they had a rough start when they were down 2-0 in the first half. But the Pates ended up scoring two goals before the half ended to tie it at 2-2, and then added two more in the second half to win 4-2.

After their comeback win against Pleasant Valley, the girls traveled up to East Stroudsburg South. The Pates came out flying against the Cavaliers scoring three in the first half and three in the second half to earn a 6-0 victory.

Going into the their game against Wilson, the Pates were on a two-game winning streak. The first half didn't go so well for the girls after a bad play caused them to be down 2-0 at half. The team never lost spirit and scored three goals in the second half including the game-winning goal in the last minute of the game.

On Saturday, Pocono Mountain West traveled to Freedom. The girls had their three-game winning streak snapped losing 3-1. After starting the season 0-3, the Patriots have turned things around and are now 3-4 overall.

During the week, Sophomore Jaiden Coyne lead the Patriots in scoring with four goals including two, game-winning goals. Seniors Erica Barrett and Carli Markle each contributed three and senior Kiera Pheiffer had two. The Pates' next test is a big one when they travel down the road to face Easton.
