ALBURTIS BOROUGH COUNCIL

During a discussion of the replacement of the borough's small dump truck at the Sept. 10 Alburtis Borough Council meeting, President Steve Hill reminded council Maintenance Supervisor Donny Derr does not ask for something unless it is needed. Council members briefly discussed buying a used truck which would require obtaining bids. The estimated cost of buying a new truck is approximately $55,000 to $60,000. The value of the existing truck is about $7,000.

Councilperson Kathleen Raines felt they should buy a new truck; Councilperson John Aleszczyk felt more information was needed about where they will get the money to pay for the truck, new or used as this is not in this year's budget. Council tabled the discussion until the Sept. 24 meeting to gather more information and options as to how to pay for the truck this year.

Council briefly review- ed the Emergency Management Program which will be approved at its next meeting.

Ore Alley will be re- paired from Front Street to the end of the Alburtis Tavern parking lot.

A motion was passed to answer a letter from Lower Macungie Township saying the borough wishes Lower Macungie Township would wait on the zoning request until the updated comprehensive plan is done.

The borough received a Memorandum of Understanding from Lehigh County Conservation District to comply with Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer MS4 program. To do this the borough must have a stormwater map, which the borough does not have. Council decided to budget $5,000 next year for a stormwater map of the borough.
