Whitehall-Coplay School District news

Meet the Teacher Nights are set throughout the district.

Gockley hosts its event 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 17. School tours are included. Parents are asked not to bring their children.

Zephyr Elementary School introduces its teachers 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 18.

The Whitehall High School Meet the Teacher will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 24 and at Steckel Meet the Teacher is Sept. 25.

Finally, the middle school will host Meet the Teacher 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 2.

Elementary school and sixth-graders at the middle school are reminded to wear sneakers on gym days. Students also should wear socks that day.

Wearing proper footwear ensures full participation and safety in gym class and also allows a child to play safely during outside activities and recess.

The Whitehall-Coplay Parent Teacher Student Association is newly reorganized this year. The group will continue to provide numerous educational and cultural programs for students.

Many of their special events could not occur without the assistance and financial support of this dedicated organization. The PTSA covers students in grades K-12. During the upcoming weeks parents will receive information about becoming a member. Try to enroll the family. There are no commitments when parents enroll.

Volunteers are welcomed to actively participate in hospitality, school volunteers for grades K-12, holiday party, school spirit, fundraiser, publicity, book fairs, Children's Day, programs and special projects categories.

Fundraising information will also be distributed.

PTSA has a meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16. The group will meet 7-8 p.m. at the Gockley Building. Everyone is invited.

PTSA Market Day pickup will be Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Parents may pick up their items at the middle school cafeteria between 4 and 5 p.m.

WCSD announces a new anonymous tip line. The line should be used by anyone who believes a student or students could endanger another person or themselves. To leave a tip, call 610-435-4638 and leave a message.
