This past spring, Northampton County Prison Warden Todd Buskirk implemented a community garden at the West Easton Treatment Center, a rehabilitation facility for inmates struggling with substance abuse or domestic relations sentences.The Parks Department joined the effort.

The officers work with the residents, who are employed at the garden, to maintain the garden. The first of many harvest collections was given to the Northampton County Prison. The second was taken to the food bank at Safe Harbor Easton for the 22 men and 12 women that Safe can house overnight, as well as drop-ins that receive meals and social rehabilitation services at the shelter during the day.
