After winning the prestigious Spatran Invitational at Garden Spot High School, Parkland earned the No. 1 ranking in the state volleyball coaches' poll.
The Trojans' first game as top dog was a home match last Monday night against Liberty.
There was not much trouble as Parkland (3-0) won in three games by scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-15 to remain unbeaten in the Lehigh Valley Conference and overall.
Games two and three were a lot closer than the opener. The Trojans actually trailed for a period of time in the final game, until Kristin Krause began her serve.
Down 12-9, Parkland scored seven straight rally points thanks to timely play while on Krause's serves. The momentum shifted back in favor of the Trojans, and they were able to put the Hurricanes away.
"Our outside hitters did a great job getting to the ball and hitting back any ball that they would send over to us," said Kristin Krause. "It was a great series to be able to get back into the game and take the lead back."
Parkland is on a roll, and it is a good time to be. The Trojans meet Northampton and Central Catholic this week, followed by Emmaus next week.
"We definitely have to work on our speed and our ball coverage," added Krause. "There's always things we can improve on. We just want to keep getting better every day.
"It all started at the beginning at doubles," Krause stated. "We've worked really hard to get to where we are, and we just keep pushing every day at practice. We push it in the weight room, on the hill, and out here on the court."
