Three place in top-10
In Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom, and Liberty's first girls cross country meet of the regular season, Freedom's Shaina Palmer and Olivia Salerno, and Liberty's Raisa Kochmaruk placed in the top ten in their meet against Emmaus and Easton.
Palmer placed second in 20.04, outstepped by Emmaus's Katie Bacher, who finished in 20.02.
"I went out with [Easton's] Diana [Hammerstone] and Katie and tried to stick with them. In the middle, Diana started in the lead. Then Katie and I took over, and Katie pulled away at the end," said Palmer.
Hammerstone placed third in 20:11.
Palmer said, "It was a really, really hot day, so we tried to hydrate, but it's always hard mentally. It takes a first race to get back into the racing of it. Last year wasn't as great as I hoped, so I expect to get better, and my coach expects me to get better."
Kochmaruk placed fifth in 20:58, and Salerno placed eighth in 21:44.
As a team, the Patriots lost to Emmaus, 22-37, and Easton, 22-38. Liberty lost to Emmaus, 18-45, and Easton, 19-44, and Bethlehem Catholic lost to Emmaus, 15-49, and Easton, 15-50.
