The borough continues to provide residents with yard waste pickup, which mostly consists of grass and small tree branches.

Public works personnel will continue with leaf pickup as trees in yards across town shed their brown, gold and red leaves as autumn is in full display.

There is no extra fee for these services.

Residents are not as passionate about observing Sept. 11 as they were immediately following the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City and the Pentagon.

Many homes in the borough flew the American flag in remembrance of the large numbers who perished when the towers were struck by two planes. Although the borough discontinued providing sand, a paper bag and candles for its luminaria Light Up Your Neighborhood, residents who wish to remember the tragedy can do so on their own.
