John Tapler, 96, of Salisbury Township, died Aug. 27, 2014, at Manor Care, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Gertrude M. (Bernstein) Tapler who died in 2000. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late John F. and Helwig (Unger) Tapler.

He was a molder at the Bethlehem Steel Corp. until retiring.

He was a World War II Army veteran, receiving a Silver Star for Gallantry in Action.

He is survived by a son, Jack and his wife Linda; daughter, Jane Popovich; sisters, Lilly and Roseanne, Florence Berner; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
