Golf season gets under way

Liberty edged Northampton in a match last week 437-438 at Southmoore in Bath.

Jacob Siegfried led the way with a 78, one shot ahead of the Kids best golfer, Carter Test, who carded a 79.

Also for the Hurricanes, Vinne Marfisi had an 84, Owen Hawk an 87 and both Morgan Krauss and Dominic Rosario shot 94s.

Liberty dropped a match to both Nazareth and Pleasant Valley at the Bue Shamrock.

Jacob Trenberth had an ace on the par-3 hole 10. He used an eight iron on the 165-yard hole. Trenberth also led all golfers with a 74 for the Eagles.

Nazareth shot 382 as a team and Pleasant Valley had a 431. Liberty shot 447. Siegfried led the way with an 81.

Liberty also split a match at Wolf Hollow Golf Course.

Their round of 445 topped East Stroudsburg North's 550 but wasn't enough to beat Central's round of 393.

Marfisi shot a 75 for the low score of the day. Siegfried had an 81 and Mike Miller a 92. Rosario had a 95 and Krauss a 102.

Central had three golfer shoot in the 70s, including Chris Della Sala's 76.

Bethlehem Catholic split a recent match at the Blue Shamrock in Palmerton.

The Hawks shot a 421 and lost to Parkland's 389, but topped Pleasant Valley which shot a 423.

The Hawks were led by Nick Maff's one-under 70. J.T. Barker had a 79 and Nick DiBenedetto had an 88. Dave Angelucci shot 90 and Shean Costello a 94.

Maff's 70 led all golfers for the round and was one ahead of Parkland's Gregg Zahour's 71.

Freedom split a recent match with Emmaus and East Strousburg North at the Bethlehem Golf Club.

Freedom and the Hornets both shot 405s in the round but it came to a tiebreaker with Emmaus getting the victory.

The Pates were led by Helen Hsu's low round of 73, followed by Zach Juhasz's 76.

Sean Abel carded an 81 and John Yocum an 82. Joe Ryan had a 93.

Same Fritzinger was Emmaus' top golfer with a 77.

Eastburg North shot a 515.
