Forrest C. Beers

Forrest C. Beers, 92, of Emmaus, formerly of Bowmanstown, died Aug. 26, 2014, in Cedarbrook. Born in Bowmanstown, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Hannah M. (Andreas) Beers.

He worked for 39 years at the NJ Zinc Company as a tool clerk.

He honorably served his country in the Air Force during World War II, stationed on the island of Tinian in the Pacific Theater and later served in the Korean conflict.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bowmanstown.

He was a lifetime member of Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., Rod and Gun Cub, Lehighton American Legion Post #314, and Lodge #621, and the Lehigh County Consistory of Scottish Rite and the Rajah Temple Shrine.

He coached Bowmanstown Little League Baseball for 16 years winning eight championships. In 2013 the Little League field was dedicated in his honor.

He is survived by sons, Charles E. and his wife Mary, of Chesapeake, Va., Frederick F. and his wife Darla, of Emmaus and Edward A. and his wife Shirley, of Allentown; daughters, Kathryn Ritter, of Emmaus and Robyn and her husband Peter Haja, of Emmaus; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son-in-law, Jeffery Ritter, and brother, Halden.
