Two men charged with Jason Cancelliere's death
Ocean City police have arrested two men in connection with the death of Justin Daniel Cancelliere, 37, of North Whitehall, who died after being assaulted Aug. 24 at the Plim Plaza Hotel, Ocean City, Md.
According to Ocean City Police Public Affairs Specialist Lindsay O'Neal, Caleb Edwin-Earl Ochse, 27, and Christopher Blake Kendall, 22, both of Ocean City, were arrested for Cancelliere's death after a police investigation.
Ocean City Communication Manager Jessica Waters stated in a press release, Cancelliere of 4238 Hill St., Coplay, was found unconscious and unresponsive in the parking lot of the hotel when police arrived.
According to Waters, at approximately 3:12 a.m. Aug. 24, Ocean City police were dispatched to the area of 109 N. Atlantic Avenue to assist Ocean City EMS, with Cancelliere.
First responders from Ocean City Police and Fire Departments initiated emergency lifesaving procedures on Cancelliere and transported him to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
O'Neal said after the investigation, detectives determined the assault occurred during an altercation in the area of Talbot Street and Baltimore Avenue.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland has ruled the cause of Cancelliere's death a homicide, O'Neal states in the press release.
According to O'Neal, on Aug. 26, Ocean City detectives with assistance from the Worcester County Sheriff's Office Criminal Enforcement Team, arrested Ochse at his place of employment.
Kendall turned himself in to police at the Ocean City Public Safety Building several hours later.
Both men have been charged with manslaughter, second degree assault, affray and reckless endangerment.
Ochse and Kendall are currently being held at the Ocean City Public Safety Building awaiting an initial appearance before a Maryland District Court Commissioner.
