Larry J. McFarland, 78, of Coplay, died Aug. 19, 2014, in his home.

He and his wife Shirley S. (Fenstermaker) McFarland were married 56 years Feb. 22.

Born May 9, 1936 in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Calvin O. and Mary (Frank) McFarland.

He was a forklift operator at Nestle, formerly ALPO, in South Whitehall Township, for 38 years before retiring in 2006.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Peggysue Vince and her husband, Joseph, and Sherry A. Rivera and her husband, Louis, all of Coplay; Danny C. and his wife, Christine, of Schnecksville, Timothy C. and his wife, Helena, of Somerville, Mass.; sisters Marie Haydt and Dolores Knabb, both of Lehighton, Linda Stroup of Palmerton; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by siblings Calvin, Arlene Strohl and Ruth Diane McFarland.
