The Catasauqua Area School Board approved a number of substitute teachers, substitute support staff employees and extracurricular positions for the 2014-15 academic year at the Aug. 11 meeting.
Reapproved substitute teachers include Joseph Alley, Kathryn Anchorstar, Janice Bauer, Jane Bear, Rachele Belletiere, Andromeda Blumenau, Robert Breon, Leonard Burkhart, Robert Bydlon, Jennifer Carfara, Jamie DeLong, Laura Denithorne, Phyllis Derksen, Carlye Dunleavy, Eugenia Emert, Jillian Emert, Robert Fahringer, Michele Harrison, Janet Hassler, Dawn Heckman, Leanne Heffelfinger, Janine Hemond, Michelle Hock, Travis Hontz and Emma Jones.
Additional substitute teachers approved by the board are Terri Lubenesky, Ashley Krutsick, MaryEllen LaDuke, Kathleen Miller, Kimberly Macasevich, Helene McGuire-Hein, Jamie Morgan, Alison Monahan, Christina Mondschein, Kristin Popovice, Thomas Moyer, Robert Pasternak, Sarah Seidel, Charles Post, Nicole Rothrock, Brian Sigafoos, Shannon Seremula, Brittney Shambo, Walter Walenta, Arlene Sovorsky, Donna Unger, Stephanie Yelles, Gary Washitzko, Benjamin Watson and Charles Yost.
The board also approved Nancy Breon, Carolyn Chorones, Judith Seyfried, Jillian Emert, Suzanne Moser and Dolores Superka as substitute secretaries; Diane Bet, Linda Dunn, Patricia Fahringer, Joseph Kantner, Sabah Morcos and Ghania Saliby as substitute cafeteria workers; Timothy Grube, Cynthia Reppert and Deanna Winch as substitute custodians; Janice Bauer, Nancy Breon, Jillian Emert, Alison Monahan, Sabah Morcos, Laurie Nebbia, Luther Smith Jr. and Terri-Jean Walck as substitute non-certified instructional aides; and Carol Flahart, Nancy Fried, Luis Hernandez, Tessa James, Joseph Kantner, Dennis Kisthart, William Mitman, Cindy Reppert, Jennifer Swarts-O'Boyle, Luther Smith Jr., Scott Smith and Robert Sterner as substitute bus and van drivers.
During the meeting the board also approved Carlos Cedeno to serve as assistant girls volleyball coach with a stipend of $2,000 and Tyler Miller and Zachary Koller, both as assistant boys soccer volunteers.
The board also approved Dave Troxell to serve as the new Catasauqua Area School District athletic director. Troxell, who is a Catasauqua High School graduate and taught at Catasauqua Middle School, will replace Thomas Moll II who resigned from the district to accept a position as athletic director with Nazareth Area High School.
Troxell thanked the board for its support and approval and said he is looking forward to working tirelessly to ensure the district's sports programs remain competitive.
"I can't think of a better person to take over," Moll said of Troxell.
