Robotic hysterectomy

A 42-year-old mother of two became the first person to undergo a Single-Site robotic-assisted hysterectomy in the Lehigh Valley at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Cedar Crest. The Single-Site robotic hysterectomy differs from the traditional procedure in that the surgeon sits at a console viewing a 3-D, high-definition image of the treatment site. The surgeon inserts an instrument through one tiny incision in the belly button and operates controls that more precisely translate his or her hand, wrist and finger movements. The robotic procedure leaves a smaller scar, causes less pain and faster recovery.
