Aurie McConnel Lawrence, 48, of Watertown, S.D., died Aug. 12, 2014, following a brief illness.

She went to the Lord surrounded by her family and the people she loved.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of Charles "Skip" and Marilyn McConnel.

Reared outside Allentown, she graduated from Emmaus High School.

She then attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, and graduated with a psychology degree.

In 1986, her husband Alan attended medical school at Temple University.

During this time, old family friends became reacquainted.

In 1991, she and Alan Lawrence married in Allentown.

Together, they started a family and moved to Watertown, S.D., in 1995.

She raised four wonderful children, and she was special in too many ways to count.

She devoted herself to the happiness of others through her generous spirit.

She loved camping, boating, gardening and many other activities.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by children, Emily, Matthew, Meredith and Timothy, all of Watertown; and many others who loved her.

She was predeceased by her brother, Michael, in 1985.
