Aurie McConnel Lawrence, 48, of Watertown, S.D., passed away Aug. 12, 2014, following a brief illness. She went to the Lord surrounded by her family and the people she loved. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Charles "Skip" and Marilyn McConnel. She grew up outside Allentown and graduated from Emmaus High School. She then attended Dickinson College in Carlisle and graduated with a psychology degree.

In 1986 her husband Alan attended medical school at Temple University. It was during this time old family friends became reacquainted. She and Alan were united in marriage in 1991 and they started a family and moved to Watertown, S.D. in 1995.

She raised four wonderful children, and she was special in too many ways to count. She devoted herself to the happiness of others through her generous spirit. She loved camping, boating, gardening and many other activities.

She is survived by her husband, Alan; four children, Emily, Matthew, Meredith and Timothy, all of Watertown, S.D.; parents, of Vero Beach, Fla.; many others who loved her. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael in 1985.

A memorial service was held Aug. 17 at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown, S.D.
