Marie M. Bachman, 84, of New Tripoli, died peacefully on Aug. 10, 2014, in her home.

She was the widow of Norman P. Bachman.

Born in New Tripoli, she was a daughter of the late Charles O. and Mabel E. (Krause) Metzger.

A housewife, she also was a farmer with her husband for many years.

She was a member of Heidelberg United Church of Christ, Heidelberg Township.

A member of New Tripoli Fire Company, she helped in the kitchen there for more than 25 years.

Her survivors include sons James D. and wife, Jane, of New Tripoli, Norman P. and wife, Wendy, of New Tripoli, and Steven C. and wife, Justine, of Germansville; daughters Rosalie M., wife of Keith Knowlton, of Smithville, Texas, and Melissa A., wife of Christopher Fliszar, of Slatington; brothers Marlin L. and Richard C. Metzger, both of New Tripoli; sisters Marian G. Kulp of New Tripoli, Eleanor L. Lakatosh of Slatington, Louise M., wife of Paul Helfrich, of Ironton, and Patricia A., wife of William Leiby, of Andreas; sister-in-law Florence Metzger of New Tripoli; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Franklin.

Her services are private. There will be no calling hours.
