Join the Lehigh Township Rails to Trails Saturday, Sept. 27, for a leisurely early autumn morning ride along part of the Delaware and Lehigh Rail Trail.

Lehigh Township Rails to Trails will lead the ride from the trailhead at Lehighton to the one in Slatington, a one way distance of about 9 miles.

The ride will begin 9 a.m. and end before noon.

Do you know where Native Americans once mined flint? Can you identify invasive species? What diner was a favorite of rail passengers? Along the way, stops will be made to answer these questions and to discuss other local history and botany.

Rest rooms are available at the Slatington Trailhead, as are picnic tables and places to purchase food if you do not want to bring your own snack or lunch.

From Slatington, riders may bike back to Lehighton or continue to ride further along one of the following routes such as the D&L toward the Cove Road Trailhead; Slate Heritage Trail toward Slatedale; or the Walnutport towpath to the picnic area at Lock 25.

Although the ride is free, participants are asked they register by Sept. 20 by calling Nancy at 610-767-0676 or by sending an email to ltr2t@hotmail.com.
