LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Camp Jefferson kids compete

This week at Camp Jefferson the theme was sports. In honor of sports week we had our annual camp Olympics.

The kids were split up into five different groups with a counselor as the team captain. Each camper got a bandanna with his or her team color to wear for the week. Each day we competed in many different sports and activities.

While we were setting up for such events the kids enjoyed playing their favorite game of four square and we also went to the pool. Although the weather was mild, the kids still enjoyed swimming every day.

In the beginning of the week, the children enjoyed their first competition. We played basketball and knockout on the basketball courts. In knockout, the first-, second- and third-place campers got points for their team. During basketball each team played one another once and the winners of each game got points for their team. Although very competitive, the kids had a great time playing these games with one another.

Tuesday was our field trip to the IronPigs game. The boys and girls loved going to Coca Cola Park. Although it was hot sitting in the stands, the kids enjoyed walking around and experiencing all the park has to offer. Most of the kids enjoyed their corn on the cob while watching the game.

Unfortunately, we did not get to stay for the end of the game, but the kids had a great time regardless.

Wednesday and Thursday we had more sports games. We had handball and soccer tournaments where each team played each other once and the winners of each game got points for their teams. We also played pillow polo, which is like hockey only with a soft ball and sticks with padding on the ends.

The kids also got to compete against each other in one of their favorite games, dodge ball. Each team again played one another and received points for their teams.

On Thursday we also had our pool competitions. At the pool we did biggest splash, best dive and best trick off the diving board.

The campers of the week were Nate W and Mahalia N. Great job this week, guys!

Overall the kids had a great time this week competing with their friends and showing off their skills.
