Richard P. Schaffer, 77, of Schnecks-ville, died July 30, 2014, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

He and his wife Anna E. (Schwartz) Schaffer were married 58 years Feb. 5.

Born March 17, 1937, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Franklin A. and Julia A. (Nyce) Schaffer.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during a peacetime era.

Employed at Chemical Lehman Tank Lines, Exton, he retired after 25 years of service in 1997 as regional maintenance manager.

A member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, he was an elder and formerly served on the consistory.

He was past noble grand of I.O.O.F. Lodge 192, Schnecksville, a life member of the Fearless Fire Company, Allentown, and a member of Grundsau Lodge 16.

In addition to his wife, he was survived by sons, Michael D. and his wife, Joann, of Orefield, Timothy J. and his wife, Susan of Slatington; grandchildren Stephen, Nicholas, Benjamin and Andrew; great-grandchildren Parker, Sophia, Holden and Caden.
