Martha A. Heliger

Martha A. (Harte) Heliger, 101, of Germansville, formerly of Quakertown, died Aug. 4, 2014, in the home of her daughter, Kathy H. Stanley and her husband, Hardy, with whom she resided.

She was the wife of the late John J. Heliger.

Born Aug. 11, 1912, in Catasauqua, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Florence E. (Detweiler) Harte.

She and her husband owned the former Rich Hill Store, Quakertown, for 14 years before retiring in 1972.

A registered nurse, she worked at Quakertown Hospital and for Drs. Donald and Harvey Feigley in their office in Quakertown.

She was a member of New Life Baptist Church, St. Augustine, Fla.

She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. "Her children will rise up and call her blessed" (Proverbs 31:28).

In addition to her daughter and son-in-law in Germansville, her survivors include children Martha Anne Fenner of St. Augustine, Nancy E. Stradling and husband, Dale, of Perkasie, John F. and wife, BettyJane of Oley, Susan Exner of Red Hill; 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Brian; granddaughter Sherri; siblings Milton and William Harte, Edith Stotsenberg and Ellen Gernerd.

Her funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Aug. 10, in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with Pastors John Fletcher and Jeff Barbieri officiating.

Family and friends may pay respects from 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Private interment at Fairview Cemetery in Whitehall.
