Iasiello to play at Arcadia

Liberty High School graduate, Nicole Iasiello, will continue her softball career at Arcadia University this fall.

The former second baseman will join former Hurricane pitcher, Erin Wilson, who graduated in 2013.

"When I first visited, it felt right for me. It started to feel like home almost," Iasiello said.

Iasiello contacted Coach Linda Detra, sending her softball schedule and Carpenter Cup softball team schedule. The second time Iasiello met with Detra, who has just retired, they talked about the future.

"She really made me feel welcome and took away the nervous part of trying to be recruited. They usually have a two-hour practice, and she said that I would be able to get my schoolwork done and manage softball at the same time," said Iasiello. "Right now, she has me at shortstop."

On Iasiello's official visit, she spent time with Wilson, went to an anatomy class and an elective class. Iasiello is planning to major in biology in the pre-med track.

Iasiello will leave for Arcadia on Aug. 22.

"I'm looking forward to meeting all the girls on the team, forming that bond, fall ball, getting into classes, college life, and earning my degree," Iasiello said.
