Harry Patterson Ross

Harry Patterson Ross, 90, of Willow Valley Communities and formerly of Emmaus, died July 27, 2014. He was the husband of Marian (Miller) Ross. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Edgar H. and Helen (Brough) Ross.

He was a graduate of Bartram High School, Philadelphia. He graduated with an electrical engineering degree from Lafayette College.

He enlisted in the Naval Air Force, serving in North Africa, England, Normandy and at D-Day. He was then at Patuxent River Naval Station, Md.

He received the Distinguished Flying Cross for completing 45 combat missions during World War II.

He worked in the Bell Labs/Western Electric system for 37 years.

He was a church leader at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Emmaus; Faith Evangelical Free Church, Trexlertown and Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church. He and and his wife were active with Cadence International, a ministry to American military in Germany, England and Missouri for nine years.

He was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 27 in Emmaus, was in the Rotary Club, was a Little League coach and a former PTA president.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael D. and his wife Kelli, of Palmyra; two daughters, Barbara J. Schuler, of Allentown and Diane R. and her husband Dr. Jeffrey Godwin, of Buckhannon, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two daughters, Sandra M. Lopez and Susan R. Chassard.
