Paranormal investigator visits library
The Northampton Area Public Library hosted a lecture July 17 by paranormal investigator A.J. Rauber, co-founder of Haunted New Jersey LLC.
Rauber is known for investigating claims of haunting phenomena all over the U.S. and Europe. He has appeared on a number of worldwide television productions and has consulted for serious major TV shows on the paranormal such as Monster Quest as well as for the Travel Channel and History Channel.
Rauber's interest in electronic voice phenomena, or EVP, started in the early 1980s. Being skeptical of the concept that one can communicate with the dead simply by turning on a tape recorder, he attended demonstrations of EVP collection seeking either a scientific or fraudulent explanation.
Having read books and articles on the subject, Rauber found himself searching for the causes of these so-called "voices of the dead."
In the 1990s while working with the popular TV show, "Sightings," he said, "I presented a number of voices captured at locations that the show sent me to investigate. I also featured the use of EVP in the Ghost Stories television series that I filmed in mid-2000 and during a Monster Quest episode that he filmed from the Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, Mass."
Rauber is very intrigued by the Lizzie Borden House because of all the phenomena that he captured while investigating their home.
"I have spent a total of 50 hours in the house, all times of the day and night," said Rauber.
During his lecture at the Northampton library he shared extensive history about the Lizzie Borden murders, which are still unsolved till this day. He shared pictures of the Borden home, and EVP known as the Lizzie Borden Tapes, A Paranormal Case Study.
Rauber continues to return back to the Borden house in hopes that he will unveil the truth about the murders.
