Local woman makes chicken soup

A local woman has a story in the latest edition of "Chicken Soup for the Soul."

Holly Daubenspeck's story "HollyDay Miracles" appears in "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Recovering from Traumatic Brain Injuries."

The Moore Township resident was on her way home from a college student teaching assignment in torrential rains when her car and another vehicle collided. She was the only one injured and fell into a coma for three months.

Daubenspeck's story talks about the miracles that night that saved her life such as a nurse who showed up on the scene and the fact that a helicopter pilot was willing to fly her to the hospital despite being warned that the weather was too bad.

"Maybe the greatest miracle of all is the continuous recovery I am still having after sustaining such a serious traumatic brain injury," she wrote.

Saying she will soon celebrate the second anniversary of the accident, she has come to refer to it as "HollyDay" to celebrate the continuing miracles in her recovery, she wrote.

The book, dubbed "101 Stories of Hope, Healing and Hard Work," was published by Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing and is available online and at bookstores. Daubenspeck's story is on page 233.

The story of Holly's accident and recovery were featured in a previous edition of The Press.
