Charles R. Johnson, 86, of Bethlehem, died July 18. Born in New York, he was a son of the late Carl and Margaret (Gavin) Johnson. He was the husband of the late Mary F. Johnson.

He served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.

He worked as a railroad detective and later retired as a lieutenant from the New Jersey Transit Police.

He is survived by two sons, Scott and his wife Carin Johnson of Bethlehem Township, and Marc Johnson; a sister, Audray Sheahan; and grandchildren Gavin, Morgan and William.
