Elwood G. Anthony

Elwood G. Anthony, 95, formerly of Allentown, died on July 20, 2014, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall.

He and his wife Lorraine L. (Champagne) Anthony were married 57 years.

Born in Wilkes Barre, he was the youngest and last surviving child of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Lewis) Anthony.

A graduate of Meyers High School, Wilkes Barre, he was an office manager for Dugan and Marcon for 19 years and also the owner of Elwood G. Anthony Flags for 48 years before retiring in 2008.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received the Bronze Star and was a member of American Legion Post 576, Allentown.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Allentown, where he was a member of the official board of the church for 38 years.

He was also a past president of the Allentown Flag Day Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by nieces and nephews.

His services will be 10:30 a.m. July 24 in Zentz Community Center in the Villa at Fellowship Manor, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall.

Call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Zentz Community Center. Interment with military honors will be in Grandview Cemetery.
