Bath wins title
Bath swept their way through the NORCO Legion postseason and are now trying to stay alive in the Region 2 American Legion Baseball Tournament.
After sweeping the Birches in two games and finishing the series with a 5-4 victory last week to win the NORCO crown, Bath focused their efforts on regionals, which started with a loss.
Norchester dealt the local champions a 4-3 loss in the opening round of the double-elimination tournament last weekend to pit them in the losers bracket.
That loss snapped a nine-game win streak for Bath, who went 6-0 in the NORCO playoffs en route to their fifth overall title in NORCO and first since 2012.
Former Liberty ace, Mike Horvath, kept Bath's postseason alive on Monday afternoon, pitching his way to a complete game 4-2 victory over Pine Grove.
The win sets up Bath (18-9) with a battle against Bucks-Mont League champion Nor-Gwyn in Tuesday's fourth round of the tournament.
Nor-Gwyn fell to Lehigh County champion North Parkland in Monday's winner bracket.
The results of Tuesday's contest are past Press deadlines, but should Bath win, they would be one of three potential teams with one loss left in the true double-elimination tournament.
A lot of the scenario revolves around the North Parkland-Norchester contest, which took place last night. North Parkland entered that contest without a loss yet, which means they technically advance to Wednesday's final regardless of what happens against Norchester.
A win over Norchester and a Bath victory would pit those two teams in the finals, with Bath needing to defeat North Parkland twice in order to win the title.
