Police nab suspect following chase

A 37-year-old robbery suspect is in custody following a chase July 15.

Police said Christopher Haller, no current address, was charged July 15 with robbery, aggravated assault, flight to avoid apprehension, recklessly endangering another person, escape and related offenses.

A Whitehall police officer observed Haller at driving the Isuzu Rodeo that was involved in a knife-point robbery at Home Depot, 1350 MacArthur Road, July 11, police said.

Officers attempted a traffic stop but a pursuit ensued, police said. The suspect weaved in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed in order to elude police.

Haller allegedly continued until he encountered stopped traffic at the intersection of MacArthur Road and Grape Street. He allegedly proceeded to intentionally ram two vehicles in an attempt to get through the intersection. His vehicle was disabled from the crash so he then fled on foot, police said.

Haller was taken into custody in the middle of the northbound lanes of MacArthur, a short distance from the intersection, according to police.

The victims of the crashes sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, police said.
