LaVerne M. Kocher-Oswald, 79, from New Tripoli, died July 10, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

She was the wife of Herbert E. Oswald and the late Richard R. Kocher Sr.

Born Sept. 19, 1934, in Nazareth, she was the daughter of the late Schuyler S. Sr. and Minnie E. (Heimer) Snyder.

She was a chef at various locations throughout the Lehigh Valley for many years before retiring.

A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Seiberlingsville, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rose Croix 235, and formerly Slatington Chapter 458.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Richard R. Kocher Jr. of Palmerton, Francis L. Kocher of Allentown, Edward C. Kocher of Orefield, James C. Kocher of Allentown, Jacqueline C. Leazott of Minnesota; stepson Michael J. Oswald of Greentown; stepdaughter Donna M. Kulp of Slatington; brother Kevin E. Snyder of Nazareth; sister Wanda Gruber of Stockerton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and beloved dog Dashania.

She predeceased by a daughter Debra A. Kocher and a brother Schuyler "Scott" Snyder.

Her funeral service will be 10 a.m. July 19, at St. Paul's UCC, Seiberlingsville, 3880 Werleys Corner Road, Kempton, with the Rev. Russell Campbell officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the church.

Interment will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery.
