Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries adoption and foster care programs transitioned into a new organization known as Diakon Child, Family and Community Ministries.

The change establishes primarily a separate board of directors for the organization. Having two service boards allows one to focus on child and family services and the other on post-acute long-time health care and retirement accomodations.

Programs in the new organization, in addition to the adoption service, include Diakon Family Life Services, Youth Services and Kathryn's Kloset.
