Daniel D. Dal Maso
Daniel D. Dal Maso, 66, from New Tripoli, died June 25, 2014, with his family at his side. He was the son of Margaret (Oswald) Dal Maso of Allentown and the late Ilario Dal Maso.
He and his devoted wife, Theresa, were married 42 years.
Born Sept. 30, 1947, he grew up in Allentown, where he graduated from Central Catholic High School.
He also played rugby for the Allentown Rugby Club.
As a veteran of the U.S. Navy, he proudly served his country aboard the submarine USS Tigrone while stationed in Groton, Conn.
After graduating college, he was a shop engineer for Mack Trucks, where he worked for 38 years in Macungie.
He was an avid Civil War buff, and spent his free time visiting the battlefields, exploring and researching the historic details of Gettysburg.
It was not uncommon for him to know as much as the park rangers who chaperoned his walks.
His greatest reward came from raising his two children, coaching them in sports and sharing in their love of competition.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by daughter Amy, wife to Edward Zachmeyer of Nazareth; and son, Daniel, and his wife Marline Dal Maso of Catasauqua and grandchildren Andrew, 7, Amelia, 4, Giorgia, 3, and Alysse, 1.
His smile, laughter and larger-than-life presence will be tremendously missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will take place 11 a.m. July 19, at Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m.
Condolences may be offered to the family at kellerfuneralhomes.com.
