Margareta Schanta, 93, of Whitehall, died June 22, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center-Cedar Crest. She was the wife of the late Emil Schanta.

Born in Raabfidisch, Hungary, she was a daughter of the late Franz and Maria (Kroboth) Schanta.

She was a sewing machine operator for the former Cross Country Clothes, Egypt and Northampton, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Coplay.

She was a member of the Amalgamated Garment Workers Union; and the Coplay Saengerbund and its chorus.

She is survived by a son, Emil and his wife Catherine; a daughter, Margareta, at home; a daughter-in-law, Anna Maria Schanta of Whitehall; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Franz; and 13 brothers and sisters.
