The Borough of Northampton has brought back its free summer concerts.
At a recent meeting, borough Manager Gene Zarayko provided council with a status of the concerts.
"So far this year, the concerts have been a bust because of the weather," Zarayko said.
Rather than relying on a big band format, the borough has changed to a variety of musical formats in hopes to boost public attendance.
The next free concert is July 16. The Emil Schanta Band is playing at the Alliance Playground for a polka party at 6:30 p.m. Free hot dogs will be available for those attending.
An "Irish Festival" is featured on Aug. 9 starting at 4 p.m. at the municipal park.
This event has drawn crowds of 300 or more persons.
Crazy Hearts performs 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20, near the Hampton House, Lincoln Avenue and 18th Street.
Joe Weber Polka Orchestra comes to the borough Sept. 6 as a part of the Sister Cities celebration, 1-5 p.m. at the municipal park, for the final free concert for 2014.
Borough officials mention the upcoming Community Days held by the Northamtpon Exchange Club will have three evenings of high-level free entertainment and music.
The youth are not being forgotten this summer. There are dip and dance programs at the municipal pool.
