Allen F. Meckes Jr., 69, of Whitehall, died June 27, 2014, at the Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Ann Marie (Oncheck) Meckes for 44 years.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Allen F. Sr. and Josephine (Kohlhauser) Meckes.

He was an EM2 in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era for two tours of duty on the U.S.S. Richard E. Edwards, U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt, U.S.S. America and U.S.S. WASP. He was a member of the Royal Order of Shellbacks.

He worked in the electrical department of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 30 years until retiring in 1999.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Coplay.

He was the quartermaster of the Egypt V.F.W. Post 7293 for the past 18 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Denise M. and her husband Michael Hertzog of Coplay; four siblings, Richard and his wife Jeanette Meckes of Gouldsboro, Robert and his wife Constance Meckes of Whitehall, Joann and her husband Bernard Nederostek of Northampton, and Ruth Ann and her husband Ralph Kichline of Bath; and three grandchildren, Damon, Chyanne and Broc.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Bechtel.
