STUDENT OF THE WEEK

Q. What grade did you just complete?

A. I am a 2014 graduate of Salisbury High School.

Q. What was your favorite subject? Why?

A. English, because I get to express my thoughts usually difficult to express orally, through my writing.

Q. Did you receive any special awards or recognition?

A. I made second team, was an MVP and was invited to play in the Lion's All Star Game my senior year for soccer.

Q. What extracurricular activities were you involved in, both in and out of school?

A. Varsity soccer and softball while in school. I maintained a job babysitting and I played club soccer for FC Elite.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I am attending LCCC this fall for my core classes and will be transferring to Coastal Carolina University for marine science in the fall. I will also be joining Navy ROTC.

Q. What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?

A. My biggest challenge so far was proving to myself I am able to make it to my dream, the Navy. It takes one person to bring you down, but with the support of my amazing family and loving friends, I am able to look past the bad and search for my place in this world. Every day is a step closer to making my dream come true.

Q. What do you want to be remembered for?

A. I want to be remembered for a part of my life, rather than a part of myself. I want everyone to know of my gracious, loving family. Being one of 11 children has had a huge impact on me and I wish some people were able to experience it. My life has been molded by those crazy people, but I wouldn't have it any other way. God blessed me with such amazing people and they're the light at the end of every tunnel.

Q. Who is in your family?

A. My parents, Sherry and David; my four brothers, Josh, Jeremy, Jacob and James and my six sisters, Kim, Kristen, Kayleigh, Kourtney, Kelsey and Kalista.

Q. Do you have someone you look up to?

A. I look up to my father because he's the strongest, smartest, most talented man. He's given me what I could ask for and more. He's the kind of man you wish you knew with his selfless personality and the faith of God that shines through him daily. My father is my role model and I love him so much.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Keep on moving forward. Don't look back on past mistakes for they are done and gone with. Strive to be a better you than you were yesterday and remember to make yourself happy. God gave you a life he knew you could live, so trust in his work.
