Hope you all had an exciting holiday weekend.
The Alburtis Lock Ridge Historical Society is having an open house 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 12 and 13. The headquarters is located at Church and Franklin streets.
A tribute concert will be held at Alburtis Park 3 to 7 p.m. July 20 in celebration of the life and music of the legendary "East Coast King of Western Swing" Denny Wayne. A number of local artists will perform. All proceeds will go to Wayne's wife to help with funeral costs.
Admission into the park is free. A guitar signed by all the artists who perform will be raffled off 6 p.m. Plenty of Texas Fever memorabilia will be available including: CD's, albums, show flyers, magazines and more. All proceeds will go directly to Denny's wife Anita.
Summer activities are gearing up. The swimming pool is now open every day.
Alburtis Senior Citizens meet noon July 16 at the Rod and Gun Club on Gun Club Road.
The annual 5K race is scheduled for Aug. 9. Check www.aacconline. org for the latest information.
There will be a soup and yard sale at the fire company Sept. 3.
Spend some time in Lock Ridge Park walking the beautiful grounds or visiting the museum. Tour hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through September.
