Gerald L. Bickert, 68, of Germansville, died suddenly June 25, 2014, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He and his wife Susan M. (Hiestand) Bickert were married 44 years June 6.

Born Aug. 16, 1945, in Catasauqua, he was the son of the late Clifford and Viola (Williams) Bickert.

He was a department manager at Laneco and Weis Markets at various locations in the Lehigh Valley for 35 years before retiring in 2007.

Since his formal retirement, he was a food service worker in the cafeteria of the Parkland High School.

A member of the United Church of Christ congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township, he volunteered for various church functions in the kitchen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Raquel S. Stonesifer and her husband, Brad, of Lewisberry, Allison N. Marks and her husband, Robert, of Bethlehem; brothers Raymond and wife, Lana, of Virginia, Thomas and his wife, Phebe, of Florida; sister Susan Romansky and her husband, Joe, of Dela-ware; grandchildren Alec, Alicia and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Karlie, Becky, Caitlyn and Ryan.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. July 3, at Heidelberg Union Church, 5187 Irvin Road, Heidelberg Township, with Pastor Karen A. Yonney officiating.

Visitation 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the church.
