Carl H. Kistler

Carl H. Kistler, 87, of Schnecksville, died June 30, 2014, in his home.

He and his wife, Luella I. (Rauch) Kistler, were married 61 years June 20.

Born June 12, 1927, in Lynn Township, he was the son of the late Clarence D. and Ella M. (Kressley) Kistler.

A 1945 graduate of Slatington High School, he faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, 37th Engineer Combat Group, during the Korean War era earning the rank of sergeant.

A member of the International Union of Operating Engineers 542, he was employed at James D. Morrissey Inc., Philadelphia, for more than 30 years before retiring.

He was a member of Slatington Lodge 440, F.&A.M.

A member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Peter's Union Church, Lynnville, he formerly served on council and was past president of St. Peter's Union Cemetery Association.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Stephen C. and his wife, Kathleen, and Brian C.; and grandchildren Lea, Victoria, Stephen D., Matthew and Benjamin.

He was predeceased by siblings, Kenneth, Margaret Peter and Fern Hoffman.

His funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. July 5, at St. Peter's Union Church, 5129 Schochary Road, New Tripoli. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church.

Interment will follow the service in the adjacent church cemetery.
