Nine new NASD teachers hired this fall
Nine more new teachers will start the 2014-15 year in Northampton Area School District.
The Northampton school board voted unanimously at the May 19 meeting to hire, effective Aug. 18, per the collective bargaining agreement with teachers:
· Megan Snyder, instructional support mathematics teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, at $46,661, with benefits;
· Laura Meyers, long-term substitute elementary teacher at George Wolf Elementary School, at $46,050, with benefits;
· Pamela Hayford, special education teacher at Northampton Area High School, at $49,105, with benefits;
· Candice Pinto, special education teacher at Lehigh Elementary School, pending successful completion of elementary Praxis, at $51,926, with benefits;
· Sara Makovsky, elementary teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, at $46,661, with benefits;
· Stefani Fink, elementary teacher at Moore Elementary School, at $46,661, with benefits, based on a bachelor's degree;
· Andrea Wells, long-term substitute elementary teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, at $46,050, with benefits;
· Amanda Roberts, elementary teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, at $46,661, with benefits; and
· William Neal, long-term substitute elementary teacher at Siegfried Elementary School, at $49,198, with benefits.
All the teachers have bachelor's degrees except for Pinto and Neal, who have master's degrees.
At the May 19 meeting, school board members, by unanimous voice vote, also approved Janel Strohl, unpaid FMLA childbearing-childrearing leave, with benefits, per federal government regulations, May 6 through July 23.
The board approved Rose M. Roberts as board treasurer July 1 through June 30, 2015;
Also approved was the resignation of Jenna Schooler, elementary teacher at Moore Elementary School, effective June 10.
