Police arrested 48-year-old James Riu of East Allen Street in Allentown on drug-repated charges June 16.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Prospect Avenue around 3 p.m. to the scene of a car accident.

Upon arrival, officers suspected the driver of being under the influence of narcotics. In a search, they found a syringe, a glass pipe, a burnt spoon and 19 packets of alleged heroin.

Riu is charged with possession of a controlled substance.
