Catasauqua resident on dean's list

Syndney Jaworowski, of Catasauqua, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2014 semester at the University of Delaware.

To qualify, students must be enrolled full time and earn a grade-point average of 3.33 or above for the semester.

ACADEMY

Resident starts internship

Venus Molony, of Catasauqua, is working as an intern at the Hepatitis B Foundation at the Pennylvania Biotech Center, Doylestown.

Molony is a graduate of Moravian Academy and is starting her second year at the U.S. Naval Academy.

She was assigned to Japan as a part of the Naval Academy's Japanese Culture Club for two weeks before starting her internship.

Local residents named to dean's list

Kimberley Babicz, a sophomore archaeology major at Dickinson College, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2014 semester.

She is a graduate of Northampton Area High School and the daughter of John and Silvia Babicz of Northampton.

In order to be named to the dean's list students must have a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher for the semester.

Taryn Anthony, of Catasauqua, earned a master of arts degree with a major in chemistry from the University of Scranton.

Amanda Dungan, of Catasauqua, earned a master of science degree with a major in curriculum and instruction.

MUHLENBERG COLLEGE

Whitehall resident on dean's list

Nicholas Melosky, of Whitehall, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2014 semester at Muhlenberg College.

Melosky is an accounting/finance major who will be entering his junior year in the fall of 2014. He was the recipient of the scholar athlete award for basketball this season.

To be named to the dean's list a student must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.

Students recognized for library research

The University of Scranton's Weinbert Memorial Library recognizes excellence in research projects that show knowledge of the methods of research, the information gathering process and use of library resources, tools and services.

Taryn Anthony, of Catasauqua, received an honorable mention in the graduate category for chemistry master's degree program.

THOMAS JEFFERSON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS

Local resident graduates

Jared Deutsch graduated with honors from Thomas Jefferson University School of Health Professions with a Master of Science degree in bioscience technologies.

He participated in the 190th commencement held on May 28 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Deutsch is the son of Jeffry and Karen Deutsch of Coplay and is a 2008 graduate of Whitehall High School.

He is completing his clinical practicum at Jefferson's mitochondrial research lab. He plans to pursue a career in molecular biotechnology.
