"Straw Hat Cinderella: Bucks County Playhouse at 75," a 25-minute documentary about Bucks County Playhouse, premieres at "Founders Day Diamond Jubilee," 7 p.m. June 30, Bucks County Playhouse, 70 S. Main St., New Hope.
The film, narrated by stage and screen star Marsha Mason, starring in "Deathtrap," through July 13 at the Playhouse, features historic photographs, paintings and drawings and commentary by James A. Michener Art Museum Bucks County Playhouse exhibition curator David Leopold, Playhouse producer Alexander Fraser, Michener Director and CEO Lisa Hanover, and painter Robert Beck. The film is produced and directed by Susan Wallner.
After the premiere, Leopold will lead an onstage conversation about the Playhouse. Guests include those who have knowledge of the Playhouse from its first performance on July 1, 1939, to the present.
The documentary, funded in part by Visit Bucks County, will be shown during tours of the Playhouse. A DVD of the film and an accompanying 40-page catalogue is available for purchase.
