Maintenance building on Lehigh agenda

Lehigh Township Supervisor Keith Hantz recently inquired on the status of the maintenance building. At the May 27 meeting he said Roadmaster Frank Zamadics should know the status of the building.

Township Administrator Alice Rehrig said she is in the process of working with a local contractor on a 100-foot by 200-foot or 80-foot by 120-foot steel pole building. The 100-foot width pole would only need doors on the ends.

Hopkins asked if they can afford the pole, which costs $1 million.

Supervisor Darryl Snover said the cost would range from below $1 million to $3.2 million. He said he wants to leverage other municipalities plans due to the cost.

Hantz said the 80-foot wide pole would require more garage doors.

Snover said the board recognizes the need for a new building. Hopkins said Zamadics should provide the supervisors a minimal size needed.

In other business, there was a meeting June 11 to discuss gaming grants. Rehrig said Northampton will also hold a meeting this year.

Also during the meeting, a recycling performance grant is expected to arrive be $8,955.

The supervisors were informed a large tree split in four and one section fell and damaged the fencing around an old reservoir. It will cost $1,200 to remove the tree.
